BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) - A Bluffton husband and wife have been charged in the shooting death of a local restaurateur.

Media outlets report 38-year-old Sam Collins and his wife, 34-year-old Collette Collins, are being held on murder charges in the Oct. 28 death of Jonathan Cherol who was killed on the back porch of his Bluffton home. He was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

Lt. Joseph Babkiewicz says police are still trying to determine a motive. He says they believe the killing was a targeted attack.

Babkiewicz says the break in the case came when police found the shotgun they say was used in the killing. Police won’t say specifically where the weapon was recovered beyond that it was found outside of Cherol’s neighborhood and led investigators to arrest the couple.
