HONOLULU (AP) - The National Weather Service is issuing a high surf warning for most Hawaiian islands.

Forecasters said Friday big waves will pound the north and west facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Maui and Molokai this weekend.

Surf along the north shores could peak at 22 to 28 feet. On the west-facing shores waves could rise to 15 to 20 feet.

The high surf is expected to begin Saturday morning and peak Saturday night. The warning lasts through Sunday evening.

People going in or near the ocean are warned that breaking waves, rip currents and navigating through harbors could be dangerous.
