JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) - The Salvation Army in Jamestown has gotten a boost from an anonymous donor who dropped a gold coin in a kettle.

Salvation Army North spokesman Jeffrey DeMars says he figures the coin is worth between $500 and $720.

It’s not the only large donation to a Salvation Army kettle in the region this holiday season. Someone put a $500,000 check into a kettle in Minneapolis late last month.
