PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - A judge in northern New Jersey criticized the mother of a Bloods gang member for showing “indifference, annoyance and boredom” during a slideshow about the life of the 18-year-old whom he killed.

The Record (https://bit.ly/1Nts0pm ) newspaper reports Judge Miguel de law Carrera on Thursday said the attitude displayed by Rahjohn Leary’s mother was “troubling” and “hard to fathom.”

She had turned her back to the prosecutor and appeared disgusted as the video showed scenes in the life of 18-year-old NyJavar Jackson.

Leary had pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in the 2010 fatal shooting in Paterson.

The judge sentenced Leary to five years in prison to run concurrent with a nine-year sentence for federal drug distribution charges.

The judge said the plea deal was lenient because witnesses refused to come forward.
