SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Police have arrested a man suspected of killing a 62-year-old woman near the southern Utah town of Mexican Hat.

San Juan County Sheriff Rick Eldredge says police arrested the 45-year-old man Thursday evening. Officers had been searching for him since the woman’s body was found earlier this week under a tree.

Police did not release details about the identity of the man or the woman or the nature of her death.

Eldredge says investigators believe the woman may have been killed Monday over a land dispute.

KSL-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1LSEr8R ) the man is a member of the Navajo Nation and the investigation has been turned over to tribal police.

Mexican Hat is about 360 miles south of Salt Lake City, in the Four Corners region.
