LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Prosecutors in Las Cruces say a man has been sentenced to 73 years in prison in a sex abuse case.

They say 54-year-old Danny Mark Oxford pleaded guilty Thursday to seven counts of criminal sexual penetration in the second degree.

District Court Judge Marci Beyer sentenced Oxford to a 73-year prison term with 28 of the years suspended.

That means Oxford will serve a total of 45 years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections.

The victim in the case did not wish to be present, but Assistant District Attorney Brad Douglas read an impact statement prepared by the victim’s mother.
