COLCHESTER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police have identified the skeletal remains found in Colchester as a man who killed himself sometime after leaving a hospital against the advice of medical staff.

A passer-by spotted the remains Wednesday near an Interstate 89 off ramp on Wednesday. Authorities said Friday that the remains have been identified as a man who was reported missing in June 2012 after he left Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington. He was 37 at the time.

Investigators used dental records to identify the man. An autopsy determined the manner of death was suicide.
