GENEVA, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a Geneva man killed his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at the home they shared.

Multiple media outlets report 58-year-old Charles Leon Davis is charged with felony murder in the death of 40-year-old Holly Jennifer Helmers.

Geneva Police Capt. Rickey Morgan says officers responded to the home Wednesday after receiving a report of a domestic violence.

Helmers was transported to a hospital where she died.

The victim’s official cause of death is unknown, pending an autopsy, but police believe Helmers died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Morgan says the death likely occurred as Helmers was attempting to leave the residence.

Davis is being held without bond. It wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.
