HILDALE, Utah (AP) - The mayor of a polygamous town on the Utah-Arizona line has accepted a subpoena days after the U.S. Department of Justice said it couldn’t find him.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1NtTEme ) Colorado City, Arizona Mayor Joseph Allred accepted the subpoena Wednesday at Town Hall. The subpoena calls for Allred to testify in a civil rights case against the polygamous towns of Colorado City and Hildale, Utah.

The Justice Department filed a lawsuit, claiming the two towns discriminate against people who do not follow the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

A motion filed by the department said they hadn’t been able to track down Allred for weeks. A judge permitted the department Monday to serve Allred by posting the subpoena on the door of Town Hall.
