FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - A Muscle Shoals woman accused of stealing multiple items from the Florence grave of a University of Alabama student has pleaded guilty to theft in a crime spree.

Media outlets report 41-year-old Brandie Lynn Grimes-Emerson pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree theft and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, split with three years to serve in supervised probation.

Grimes-Emerson was arrested in January 2014 after she was identified as the person seen removing items from the grave of Brandy Nicole “Nikki” Murphy at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Murphy’s grave was one of five Grimes-Emerson stole from at that cemetery.

At the time of her arrest, authorities connected items found at her home to nearly a dozen victims in multiple states.
