CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Clemson safety T.J. Green was ejected for targeting after hitting North Carolina’s Ryan Switzer on a punt return in the second quarter

Green, a junior starter, will miss the rest of the rest of the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game Saturday night with the ejection.

Green had his head down when he collided with Switzer’s helmet. Officials reviewed the play before confirming the penalty.

North Carolina was also called for a block in the back penalty, forcing Clemson to punt the ball again.

The Tar Heels held a 16-14 lead at the time of the foul.

Green was also called for a personal foul for grabbing the facemask of North Carolina quarterback Marquise Williams in the opening quarter.
