OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma City Zoo officials have announced the birth of an endangered species of zebra.

The zoo says a male Grevy’s (GREE’-veez) zebra foal was born Nov. 29 to mother Sassy and father Ziggy.

The Grevy’s zebra is the largest of five species of zebra and is considered the most endangered with 3,000 or fewer still in the wild.

The yet-to-be named foal now weighs nearly 70 pounds and zoo officials say both it and the mother are doing well.

The foal can be seen at the Grevy’s zebra habitat when temperatures are 40 degrees or above and conditions are dry.
