SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Chase Fischer scored 21 points, Kyle Davis and Kyle Collinsworth added 15 apiece, and BYU’s defense tightened up after a loose first half to hang on for a 73-68 win over Weber State on Saturday.

Fischer was 7 of 12 from the field and made four 3-pointers for BYU (5-2), adding five rebounds and four steals.

Collinsworth hit two jump shots late, pushing the Cougars’ lead back to eight points each time.

BYU made just 5 of 10 free-throw attempts in the final 1:09.

Weber State (5-3) made 15 of its first 20 shots and finished the first half shooting at a 67 percent clip. But the Wildcats had four quick turnovers out of the break, and BYU used a 9-2 run to take a 48-39 lead.

Jeremy Senglin had 20 points and five assists for the Wildcats.

BYU played without freshman Nick Emery, who was suspended one game after punching Brandon Taylor during Wednesday’s 83-75 loss at Utah.
