SOUTH OGDEN, Utah (AP) - A Layton man has been charged in the death of a toddler struck by a car.

KSL-TV in Salt Lake City reports (https://bit.ly/1TKYxbz) that 25-year-old Aaron Joe Burlison was charged Friday with manslaughter as well as possession or use of a controlled substance.

According to charging documents, a vehicle hit 18-month-old Lexie Smith in an apartment complex parking lot in South Ogden on July 27.

The girl was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.

Authorities say Burlison allegedly used or had marijuana at the time.

No arrest warrant or court summons has yet been issued for Burlison.

A message left at a number listed for him was not immediately returned Saturday.

A fundraising website set up by the girl’s family has raised more than $14,000.
