AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine Gov. Paul LePage and his wife Ann are inviting military families to Christmas celebration.

The event Saturday at the Blaine House features cookies, hot cocoa and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The first lady said it’s an opportunity to share some Christmas cheer while showing appreciation for the sacrifices made by Maine’s military service members and their families.

She noted that many military children are faced with the difficult task of having a parent deploying and being gone over the holidays.
