BARTOW, Fla. (AP) - One man is working to bring Bartow landmark known as Wonder House back to its former glory

The Ledger (https://bit.ly/1Q6ZLPr ) newspaper in Lakeland reports that Jacksonville attorney Drew Davis had the winning bid in an online auction to purchase the 1920s-era mansion.

The 5,300 square-foot home was built by a Pennsylvania contractor and designed with an internal irrigation system to water foliage on its many open terraces. The walls are flecked with decorative tiles and inlaid tile creates dramatic patterns on the floors.

During the mansion’s heyday in the 1930s, visitors paid to tour the property.

Davis says it will take many years to restore the now-dilapidated property but he is devoted to saving local landmark.
