CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - Nueces County has canceled jury trials scheduled for next week after a problem of unknown origin caused no jury summons letters to yet be sent out for the month of December.

The Corpus Christi Caller Times reports (https://bit.ly/1OMJJqZ ) that officials knew something was wrong when no one showed recently to get excused from jury duty.

District Judge Nanette Hasette said the problem affects the state district courts, county courts and justices of the peace.

Notices now are being sent out for the week of Dec. 14.

Officials say they aren’t sure how it happened, but there may have been an issue with Courthouse Technologies, a vendor that has sent out jury notices for the county since 2010.

Hasette said the vendor said orders were placed, but didn’t get sent.
