FAIRLEE, Vt. (AP) - Vermonters working on renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions are gathering for an annual conference devoted at least in part to helping local energy committees organize and mobilize.

Saturday’s Vermont Climate and Energy Council annual conference at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee is to feature talks by Congressman Peter Welch, a speaker from the Post Carbon Institute and workshops devoted to various aspects of changing the way energy is made and used.

Among topics to be discusses at the conference will be zero-energy homes, energy pricing and electrical grid planning.

There will also be a workshop on town energy committees, with a focus on strategies for their success.
