FAIRFAX, Vt. (AP) - Vermont state police say a 47-year-old man is dead after an all-terrain-vehicle crash in Fairfax.

Police say 47-year-old Walter Morgan of Fairfield was riding near the intersection of Russel and Comette roads Saturday at about 8:20 a.m. when his ATV went off the side of the road.

Authorities say Morgan, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected and suffered severe head injuries. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

State police say the crash is still under investigation, but alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors.
