BATH, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a fire that killed a 72-year-old Lehigh Valley woman is under investigation and may have been caused by unattended cooking.

The Northampton County coroner said Saturday the victim was Joann Stofanak.

She was found Friday evening in the second floor of the home in a rural area near Bath that she shared with her husband.

Officials say her husband was injured and required hospital treatment.

A fire chief says the home had no working smoke detectors, and they could have saved her life.

The cause is being investigated but isn’t considered to be of suspicious origin. The home was destroyed.
