NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - The mayor-elect of New London has focused his efforts on hiring people to lead major city departments.

The Day reports (https://bit.ly/1NCyCO1 ) Michael Passero has already chosen an interim finance director, an interim chief administrative officer and a director in the Office of Development and Planning since his win in the November election. He will be sworn in on Monday night.

Passero says he is looking forward to working with a new city council, whose members will also be sworn in on Monday. The council, comprised of Democrats, will vote on the new president.

He says having the backbone of his administration around him when he takes office will help him search for a permanent chief administrative officer.

Passero is looking to fill 14 vacancies on several boards and commissions.
