Minnesota: Running back Shannon Brooks, 6.2 yards per rush.

Central Michigan: The Chippewas have won five of their last six games, and they were involved in one of the most exciting bowl games a year ago - a 49-48 loss to Western Kentucky in the Bahamas Bowl.

Minnesota: The Golden Gophers are one of three 5-7 teams to reach bowl games this season because there were not enough bowl-eligible teams with six victories. They have lost five of their last six games.

Minnesota 30, Central Michigan 10 (Sept. 16, 1987).

Central Michigan: This is the second year of the Quick Lane Bowl, which replaced the Motor City Bowl - a game the Chippewas took part in four times between 2006-12.

Minnesota: This is the first time the Golden Gophers have played in the Quick Lane Bowl, and the appearance will mark their fourth straight bowl game.
