JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - A 19-year-old Juneau man is charged with second-degree murder in a fatal stabbing.

The Juneau Empire reports (https://bit.ly/1XTjfGK) Kevin Scott Nauska is suspected of stabbing 37-year-old Jordon Sharclane to death and assaulting 19-year-old Michael Sharclane during a dispute at a housing complex.

He is being held on $100,000 bail.

Family members of the Sharclanes say the men went to the complex to retrieve an iPod and phone that Nauska took.

The judge appointed a public defender with the state’s Office of Public Advocacy to represent Nauska.

A probable cause statement says Nauska told officers he acted in self-defense.

Juneau District Attorney Kevin Scott says the investigation is at an early stage. A grand jury will likely hear the case Friday and could indict Nauska on a first-degree murder charge.
