SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a shooting victim crashed his car into a police car in Syracuse and later died at a hospital.

The shooting happened at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police say an officer was investigating the gunfire when his patrol car was struck from behind by another vehicle. The police car was stopped on the side of the road at the time.

The officer checked the driver of the other car and saw that the man had been shot in the chest and abdomen.

The 22-year-old driver was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where he died. He was identified as Devante Combs, of Syracuse.

Police have made no arrests.

Two other men were shot in unrelated incidents in Syracuse early Sunday. Their injuries were not life-threatening.
