COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) - Police are investigating the shooting of a woman at Big Lake Park on the north side of Council Bluffs.

The Daily Nonpareil reports (https://bit.ly/1TT3crQ ) that officers were dispatched to the park around 6:40 p.m. Saturday. They found the woman near the parking lot.

She reported that she’d gone for a short walk on the park’s trail and was resting on a bench when the other woman approached. The armed woman ordered her to get on the ground, made a vulgar comment and then shot her in her left thigh.

The wounded woman says her assailant didn’t demand any valuables or money before running off. The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

No arrests have been reported.
