FARMVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A 14-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car in Pitt County.

North Carolina State Highway Trooper Adrian Bowen tells local media outlets that the teen died Sunday evening after being hit by a car in Pitt County at around 6 p.m.

Bowen says a car was traveling west into Farmville, along highway 264 near Brooks Drive, when a pedestrian tried to cross the street. He was hit by the car and pronounced dead later at a hospital.

Troopers haven’t released any information about or charged the driver of the car. Another person walking with the teen was not hit.
