CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Officials say a 24-year-old man rescued four young children from a burning home after cries from the youngest one woke him up.

A statement from the Chattanooga Fire Department says Johnny Robinson got his cousin’s four children, ages 1 to 4, out of the home Monday morning before firefighters arrived. The statement says Robinson found the home ablaze after a crying infant woke him up.

Battalion Chief Lesley Morgan says it appears the blaze was accidental, though it isn’t clear what sparked it. The statement says Robinson was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, and the children didn’t appear to be injured.

The Fire Department says no working smoke detectors were found in the home.

Firefighters say the children’s parents were at work at the time of the fire.
