CINCINNATI (AP) - Authorities have identified the man whose body was found when fire crews responded to a blaze at a Cincinnati apartment building and are continuing to investigate his death as a homicide.

Cincinnati fire dispatchers said the fire was reported at the two-story building on the city’s west side shortly before 5 a.m. Monday. Cincinnati police homicide investigators were called to the location after the body of 34-year-old Cleophis Carson was found in an upstairs apartment where the fire began.

Officers say the death doesn’t appear to be fire-related and the man was found to have a “traumatic” injury.

Authorities say several other people living in the building escaped without injury.

No other details were released.
