BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. (AP) - A woman who is wanted on charges of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit kidnapping is on the run and could be heading toward western North Carolina.

Media outlets report Freda Lynn Lambert-Smith is wanted for conspiracy to commit kidnapping from an incident that occurred Friday night at a Boiling Springs apartment complex.

A news release from the sheriff’s department says Lambert-Smith shot her ex-boyfriend on Sept. 14 in Greer. She was released on bail.

The release says Friday, Lambert-Smith hired two men from a temp service and asked them to help her move from her apartment. She told them she was going to play a “prank” on her boyfriend, and took them to the apartment of her ex-boyfriend. She asked them to kidnap her ex-boyfriend and throw him in the back of a U-Haul she had rented.
