CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Officials say one person is dead and another is injured after being struck by a car in downtown Charleston.

Police spokesman Charles Francis tells media outlets that two pedestrians were hit at around 6:45 p.m. Saturday near Recovery Room Tavern on King Street.

One person later died at a hospital. The second person’s condition wasn’t immediately available.

Authorities are still investigating, and the driver has not been cited. The names of the people involved have not been released.
