BOSTON (AP) - Gov. Charlie Baker says state government is planning a regular work day Monday, despite heavy snow in the forecast, but he urges people to take public transportation if possible.

Baker said Sunday night the MBTA plans a regular schedule, but could make changes as needed. Amtrak is planning to operate a normal Monday schedule, although some Acela Express and Northeast Regional service will be modified.

The storm is expected to bring about a foot of snow to Massachusetts, with less in southern areas where sleet and rain will fall.

Baker says people who drive should expect a difficult commute, including icy roads. He says drivers should remember a parking ban takes effect in Boston by daylight and other communities also have issued parking bans and snow emergencies.
