BEND, Ore. (AP) - A licensed Bend day care provider is in custody in connection with an investigation of suspicious injuries suffered by a three-month-old girl in her care.

The Bend Bulletin reports (https://bit.ly/1CZUBNu ) 41-year-old Nicole Rene Johansen was arrested Friday on suspicion of two counts of first-degree assault and one count of suspicion of first-degree criminal mistreatment. She was being held on $215,000 bail.

Police began investigating Johansen after learning the little girl was being treated for internal head injuries at St. Charles. Johansen was interviewed, her residence searched, and she was subsequently arrested.

The child is recovering at St. Charles Bend. Her condition isn’t known.

The state Department of Human Services is contacting the parents of other children who attended the day care.

Johansen is due to appear in court on Monday.
