AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - A group of Maine lawmakers will host Turkic Cultural Day at the Maine Statehouse.

The event will take place in the Hall of Flags on Wednesday at noon. It is sponsored by the Turkish Cultural Center of Maine, Council of Turkic American Associations and Turkic American Chamber of Commerce.

Sens. Roger Katz and Garrett Mason and Reps. Joan Welsh and Richard Farnsworth are hosting it. The fourth annual event is expected to include traditional Turkish food, a photo exhibition and a calligraphy demonstration.

Maine has about 2,000 Turkic residents.
