CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A driver is facing charges after authorities say he ran a red light in Charlotte and crashed his car, killing two of his passengers.

Authorities tell local media outlets that 53-year-old Larry Wayne Lynch ran a red light at around 11 a.m. Saturday and was hit by another car.

Two people in Lynch’s car, 80-year-old Ramos Villacorta and 72-year-old Flor Villacorta Margarita, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Lynch was jailed on charges of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, reckless driving and a red light violation. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney.
