UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police say a man who was struck by a drunken driver had his arm amputated following the accident.

WTTG-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1DlpWYF ) that 21-year-old Caylen Hayes was walking with two other people on Route 301 near Frank Tippett Road in Upper Marlboro at around 11 p.m. on Saturday when he was struck by a car. Police say the driver left the scene but witnesses gave police the car’s license plate number. Police say they were able to locate the driver at his home, and that he was under the influence of alcohol.

Police say the man was placed under arrest.
