NEWARK, Ohio (AP) - A family in central Ohio had just about given up hope of finding their half-blind, half-deaf Rottweiler after months of searching.

But this past week the family got the dog named Ruger back after he was found a few streets over from their home in Newark.

The family tells The Advocate (https://ohne.ws/1LnYlvK ) newspaper in Newark that the dog was emaciated and exhausted but seems OK for the most part.

Jeanne and Alan Reid say they last saw Ruger on July 3 after he disappeared from their yard.

They first thought he was lost, then figured he’d either been taken or wandered off and was dead.

The family says they have no idea where their dog has been, but they’re glad he’s home.
