SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has released the name of a trooper who was killed when a vehicle crashed into a pair of officers at the scene of a traffic accident.

A patrol spokesman said troopers Nicholas Dees and Keith Burch were investigating a semitrailer crash near Shawnee on Saturday night. They were hit while standing outside of their vehicles near Interstate 40.

He says Dees died at the scene and Burch was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital in serious condition. The spokesman described Burch’s condition as stable.

The driver was also taken to an area hospital with unreported injuries. The semitrailer driver was treated and released. Their identities haven’t been released.

No charges have been reported.
