McALESTER, Okla. (AP) - Police say an officer in eastern Oklahoma has been injured after being struck by a suspected drunk driver.

McAlester Sgt. Chris Morris says officer Richard Bedford was performing a traffic stop early Sunday morning when a truck ran into him. He says the driver hit Bedford’s patrol car before pinning him against the vehicle that was pulled over.

Bedford was treated at an area hospital and released.

No other injuries were reported.

The 34-year-old truck driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
