MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minneapolis police say an officer opened fire after he was hit by a vehicle occupied by shoplifting suspects outside a grocery store.

Police say the officer got off one gunshot at the vehicle outside a Cub Foods store in south Minneapolis about 10 p.m. Saturday.

According to a police statement, the officer approached a vehicle of shoplifting suspects when the driver drove directly at the officer, striking him.

The officer was treated for minor injuries.

No arrests have been made. The Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/16geAv4 ) reports police are reviewing surveillance video as part of their investigation.
