TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Forecasters say a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is headed to New Jersey, and that could create hazardous travel conditions across the state.

Winter storm warnings are in effect for northern counties, which could see anywhere from 2 to 10 inches of snow and some ice from the approaching storm.

Little or no snow accumulation is expected in central and southern Jersey. But winter weather advisories were issued for those areas because roadways are expected to be slick and icy, especially side roads.

The wintry mix is expected to start across the state Sunday night and continue through Monday afternoon. That could mean a messy morning commute in many areas, so drivers are being urged to use caution and allow extra travel time.
