OAK HILL, W.Va. (AP) - Two Fayetteville men face charges of killing a dog with a machete.

Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler says in a news release that the suspects attempted to cut off the dog’s head. The dog’s body was found at a residence near Oak Hill last week after police received a tip.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested 36-year-old Karl Conan Green and 33-year-old Daniel Allen Smith on Saturday. Each man is charged with malicious killing of an animal. They remain free after posting $10,000 bond. It’s unclear if either man has an attorney.
