HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (AP) - Two people are in custody following the shooting of a police sergeant during a raid on a home in the Detroit enclave of Highland Park.

The officer was shot in the leg Monday and was being treated Tuesday at a hospital.

Highland Park police Chief Kevin Coney tells The Detroit News the shooting occurred about 7 p.m. Monday as officers were executing a search warrant.

Coney says the shot was fired after a flash-bang grenade was thrown into the home.

The sergeant’s name wasn’t released Tuesday. He’s the second officer from the department to be shot in recent days.

Reserve officer Roderick Jones was working off-duty Saturday as a security guard when he was killed after telling a man to leave a Detroit bar.
