ARKINDA, Ark. (AP) - Authorities are searching for a man who they say abandoned his wife and 2-year-old child after a police chase near the Arkansas-Oklahoma border.

The Texarkana Gazette (https://bit.ly/1vC4UGy ) reported Tuesday that Little River County deputies are searching for the 38-year-old man. Sheriff Gary Gregory says the suspect is wanted on various drug warrants and was spotted by a deputy on Sunday while driving a truck.

Gregory says the man fled from the deputy causing a collision between their vehicles. He says the man then left his family and fled into nearby woods.

The deputy was treated at an area hospital and released. No other injuries were reported.

Oklahoma and Arkansas state police are assisting with the search.
