PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A Portland Fire and Rescue spokesman says firefighters have extinguished a blaze that damaged four units at a northeast Portland motel.

Lt. Damon Simmons says crews arriving Monday evening at the Union Avenue Motel found heavy fire in two units while two others were also damaged.

The motel was evacuated. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The American Red Cross says it is assisting 21 adults and six children displaced by the fire.
