DORTMUND, Germany (AP) - Borussia Dortmund says Germany forward Marco Reus has extended his contract with the club until 2019 to end persistent transfer speculation.

The 25-year-old Reus says in a statement on the club website on Tuesday that “Dortmund is my hometown, and Borussia simply my club.”

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge angered Dortmund management this season by saying Reus, whose existing contract ran until 2017, could leave for 25 million euros ($28 million) next summer.

Dortmund, Bayern’s main challenger in recent years, has struggled this season and languishes near the bottom of the Bundesliga.
