JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Sections of Juneau’s Eaglecrest Ski Area are set to open this weekend with new snow.

KTOO (https://is.gd/o7yf0W) reports the ski area plans to reopen the Porcupine chairlift on Saturday when the annual Winter Fireworks Spectacular also is scheduled to take place.

Eaglecrest spokeswoman Jeffra Clough says the Wee Ski and Little Rippers programs for children between the ages three and six also are set to restart this weekend.

Lift operations were shut down at the city-owned ski area last month because of a warmer and wetter winter than usual.

A cold snap last week allowed crews to manufacture some snow on the lower mountain. A few inches of snow also fell.

Clough says Black Bear, Ptarmigan and Hooter chairs remain closed for now.
