BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - Montana State defensive backs coach Brandon North has resigned after four seasons to pursue opportunities closer to his home in Texas.

The school announced the resignation on Monday.

Coach Rob Ash says North is an excellent football coach and a good person who did tremendous work on the field and in recruiting for the Bobcats.

North, who played football at Stephen F. Austin, came to MSU as an assistant secondary coach in 2011 and progressed to more responsible roles. He worked primarily with the team’s safeties.

Ash says he’ll move quickly to hire a coach to fill North’s role.
