SILVERTON, Colo. (AP) - Silverton residents are casting ballots in a recall election that many hope will end months of political fighting in the mountain town.

Voters are deciding Tuesday whether to recall Trustee Karla Safranski and have Patty Dailey take her place on the town board.

The Durango Herald (https://bit.ly/195dinI) reports that the turmoil began in August when a city employee was accused of violating a “niceness contract” by making comments about his boss in the early morning hours at a Silverton bar.

The ensuing fighting has divided residents and the town board and temporarily closed town hall.
