CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - A decline in flu cases has prompted University of Virginia Medical Center to reinstate regular visitation policies.

Regular visitation resumed on Monday at the medical center and at U.Va. Children’s Hospital.

The medical center says in a news release that it had 27 confirmed flu cases from Jan. 24 to Jan. 30. That’s the lowest single-week total since early December.

In early January, the medical center limited visitation to only immediate family members or an adult designated as the patient’s contact. Children under age 13 weren’t allowed to visit patients, unless there were extenuating circumstances.
