BOSTON (AP) - An 18-year-old Boston man faces murder and other charges after a fatal shooting in the city’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood.

Officials with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office say Josiah Zachery of Hyde Park was arraigned in municipal court Thursday and ordered held without bail in the killing of 21-year-old Kenneth Lamour, also of Hyde Park.

Prosecutors say Lamour was shoveling snow with a nonprofit group Wednesday when a man approached and shot him. Officials say a city police officer heard the shots and confronted Zachery, who fired several shots at the officer but missed. Authorities say Zachery ran away but was caught by other officers.

The motive for the killing isn’t clear.

Zachery’s lawyer, Jack Miller, says Zachery didn’t know Lamour and he’s confident Zachery will be acquitted.
